A business meeting is an in-person meeting where teams discuss problems and work together to find solutions. It’s a vital element of a successful company because it ensures that everyone’s on the same page and can communicate effectively. It also fosters unity by creating an area to celebrate successes, acknowledge accomplishments, and encourage employees to work together to achieve goals.

Meetings on projects typically involve teams of employees working on some specific task like creating an advertisement, making an identity or brainstorming ideas for a campaign. They encourage creative thinking and encourage ideas that are out of the box. Since they are geared towards getting the job done interpersonal relationships are often taken the backseat while team members focus on making progress.

They are typically intended to transfer information or intentions from one person to another. In spite of the Machiavellian appearance of their formats and ceremonies, they do not generally have any ill-willed motives. They are more about making sure that all participants are present to perform the intended actions.

During these sessions the chairperson is expected to keep the discussion on track by refusing any attempts to deviate from the agenda and then refocusing discussions back on the topic at business meeting hand. They should also assist in identifying any issues in the workflow and make the most of the time by ensuring the meeting runs within its allocated duration. They should also summarise the key decisions made at the end of the meeting, and arrange for follow-ups, if required.
